There was a discussion concerning possible changes for next year's show. Having carvings judged at the show costs the club over $1,000.00. This event and the whittling contest have not been as profitable as expected. We may need to consider dropping these events. There was some confusion this year about the 2 Christmas Trees. Russ explained that we had expected more ornaments than were received. If there had been 200 ornaments we would have had 2 raffles. However, we had fewer than 200 so we had 1 raffle for both trees. Ornament raffles were down this year. Moving the tree back to the front door next year was discussed as a possible remedy.
Russ reported that a member of the Glen Carbon Senior Carving Club donated 80 ornaments. Thank you very much for your support. Don Deitz reminded us all that the quality of these ornaments reflects on our club, and we should all work harder to improve them.
We welcomed 3 new members tonight. They are Tom Moore, Vince Barrows, and Shari Barrows.
For the good of the Club: Ken Rogowski has large and small pieces of basswood for sale. Jim Williams has a radial arm saw for sale.
Show and Tell: Nine carvers presented 12 carvings. The check winners were Mike Todd, Russ Hamilton, and Larry Cralley.
The meeting was adjourned for coffee and donuts.
Respectfully submitted,
Teresa Denson
