Go Getter note - Jimmy shares experiences he had with Ozark Air Lines during his early childhood age that has stayed with him
for many years. Comments/feedback such as this is especially gratifying in that it comes from ones own peer group. You can check out

Ever since I went on the web several years ago, I have made it a practice to check in on Ozark and catch up on the latest news every so
often. Your web sight is truly special.
I have a story to share that may demonstrate just what an impact the people of Ozark had on my life and chosen career.
As a young lad back in the late 50s and up until the mid sixties I had a chance to fly Ozark nearly every other month from my Des Moines to Chicago where I connected to Eastern and flew home to my parents place in Miami. I attended school in Iowa and was shuttled back and forth as my Dad worked for Eastern in Miami. Not many kids eight, nine or tweleve years old flew by themselves back then and I spent many hours under the watchful eye of some great Ozark Airlines "Customer Service Agents" and then "Stewardesses". I could spend hours sitting in the gate a O'Hare waiting for my flights home and always there was someone who would check on me and make sure I was doing fine.
The people of Ozark really cared and it made an impression on me that lasts even to this day.
Like any kid I wanted to grow up and be like the people I knew and that is exactly what happened. In 71 I got my first job as a CSA for Eastern in Miami. Then came the big opputunity - I was hired by North Central Airlines in Minneapolis/St. Paul as one of four of the original male Flight Attendants at the company when that change came in the industry. I continued to fly the route of the Northliners through the mergers of Southern, Hughes Airwest, Republic and Northwest and often rubbed elbows with other Ozark crews as we frequently stayed in the same RON hotels. The Ozark crews and family were always upbeat and continued to make an impression on me even as the company got bigger it always seemed to get better.
My career has now taken me way beyond what I ever would have dreamed of as a kid starting out in the industry. I left Northwest behind and became the first Supervisor of Inflight and Training at a new company people said would never get off the ground "RenoAir". My journey has taken me from Flight Attendant to Manager and then Director of Inflight at RenoAir and most recently as Vice President of Inflight at ProAir in Detroit.
So - did the people of Ozark make an impression on their passengers? - you bet - and today I still admire that "Go-Getter" Ozark spirit.
Happy Holidays to everyone who made Ozark what it was and know that you set an example for kids like me who wanted
to be just like you. I think we did ok.
Sincerely
Jimmy Dunn

Thank you for a very interesting web site! I am a former Ozark flier and
live in an Ozark town--Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Ozark served my city
faithfully from the early 50's ( I think we were one of Ozark's first
destinations) until 1982. They flew everything in here from DC-3s to
DC-9s. I have a modest collection of Ozark memorbilia. I have
photos--mostly taken at St. Louis and Cape Girardeau. I have timetables
from the early 70's through the early 80's. I also have tickets and
boarding passes (with an inflight menu on the back). If you are
interested I would gladly color copy, fax, loan, etc. anything from my
collection to add to your web site.
Thanks again for keeping the memory of Ozark alive through this web site. I can't wait until it's finished!
Sincerely,
Greg Lincoln
Go-Getter Bird Comments - Thanks Greg, Yes we are interested in the memorbilia. We will give you a call and discuss ways we may be able to include some of it in our web site. P.S. This Go-Getter Bird may have given you the ticket or boarding pass! - Thank For Flying Ozark Air Lines and Welcome Aboard".

In December of 1971 I was returning home from the Army and a tour in
Vietnam. I had flown from San Francisco to Chicago on American
Airlines and arrived mid day. My final destination was Cedar Rapids,
Iowa and had a United ticket that would not have gotten me in until
late that evening.
I was walking past an Ozark counter when one of the employees inquired
if I needed any assistance. It was December 23rd and OHare was quite
busy. I showed them my ticket and the two people at the desk did some
checking and said they could get me into Waterloo, Iowa earlier in the
afternoon. They took me out to the flight line in a station wagon and
got me on a smaller plane that was waiting to takeoff. From there we
made two other connections that took me all over the midwest. I'm not
sure what they were, Sioux Falls, SD, Rochester, MN and eventually
into Waterloo. On each flight I was treated with first class service.
I have always had a great deal of admiration for Ozark Airlines and
appreciated their efforts of getting me home that Christmas.

Go-Getter Bird Comments - On behalf of over 4,000 Ozark employees, we were more than happy to help our servicemen. After all, the little extra effort was trivial considering the much bigger picture of your commitments and sacrifices - Thank You and Merry Christmas.
Nov 16 Go-Getter Bird Comments While surfing found Pics of OZA aircraft
on Mike's site. He has a very interesting site dedicated to
Air California
You'll send hours surfing around his links.
I ask about adding a link from his Ozark pic's to our site.
Mike's response:
Of course I will add a link to your OZ page! I'm glad somebody finally created one. I used to fly jumpseat on OZ quite a bit in the 80s. I could always get to DEN and ORD, but when I needed to go further I could always just jump on OZ. I remember a specific flight that went DEN-ORD, with THREE stops (all) in Iowa. Those were the days!!! I also remember a specific flight DFW-STL where they served hot dogs on the airplane. It was late at night and there were only about 30 people on the plane but they catered for about 50. The F/A made a PA stating that they had plenty more hot dog baskets (with chips and an apple), and that they were "really good", and they were! Try getting a meal on a one-hour flight these days... Keep in touch, I love your page! Mike PS. Can I use your background for my OZ page?
