Greetings from the Editor

Museum

The following RGVW woodcarvers attended the Pioneer Days program; Juan DeLeon, Mary Lou De Leon, Crystal De Leon, Tom Aderhold, Fernando Gutierrez, Robert Gorczyca, and Ronald Henson where carving at the History Museum. They were well received by the public, some with many questions as to how some things were accomplished, several that inquired as how to start the art of woodcarving. We work hands on with two new carvers, both were home schooled and ask very detailed and quality questions. Several small carving were given to the small fry and some larger blanks with instructions to the beginners.

Melissa was very please with our presents and extend an invitation to return next year.

OUR HERITAGE
This was written by one of our club members

The road was weary
The day was dreary
He could hardly carry any more
That ragged old flag that he bore

His legs felt heavy, aching and numb
But he kept the pace of the cadence drum
His wounds were nagging, bleeding and sore
But it was his duty to carry the old flag he bore

The many friends were gone
And he felt so all alone
But there were to be many, many more
To follow the flag that he bore

He thought about the battle long
The brave men that did no wrong
That would proudly follow forevermore
That fine old flag that he bore

Pride was to lengthen his stride and pace
Honor made his chest to swell and heart to race
He was glad to be part of the lore
Of the beautiful flag that he bore

Today we need to honor "The PLedge"
The Star Spangled Banner - our duty not hedge
To remember the many that have gone before
And their sacrifice made to our great flag that they bore
